Granola is super tasty and crunchy, but as we’ve already covered, crunchy means hidden fat and sugar. If you opt for granola-based cereal, you’ll be ingesting as much as 15 grams of sugar per cup, which is the equivalent of three teaspoons of sugar.

In other words, granola-based cereal is for a sweet tooth, not a healthy sugar-free diet. Further, in a single granola bar you can find as much as 25g of sugar, which is about the same as in a chocolate bar.

Unfortunately, not all foods advertised and promoted as healthy can really live up to the expectations, so be mindful every time someone tries to pass something off as “healthy”. Refined sugar is one of the leading causes of many serious health issues and should altogether be eliminated from one’s diet. Always read the list of ingredients when you’re grocery shopping and opt for no or little sugar content.
